Dynamic agents exploration: Earth into Metal

Earth energy will center our focus on our digestive system at the core of our body. Here, the word ‘digestive’ means a deep central integration of our being.

Three broken lines represent the Trigram Earth in the Yi Ching; the space between them symbolizes emptiness as the potential to receive a seed. This is the Power of Intention YI 意. The Earth element, which encompasses all five elements in Chinese Five Element Theory, is the transitional period between seasons—an in-between change to reset our organism in the present moment. In Taoism and Buddhism, the Earth element embodies the Wisdom of Equinimity–all compounded phenomena are equally impermanent, we can cut through the creation of systems of values and belief.

The dynamic agent of Metal animates the body as matter. It is the air circulation in the body, the oxygenation of the blood, with the contraction and expansion of our lungs, and the elimination of the large intestine. It is the Power of PO 魄, which evokes a movement of return toward the Earth like the leaf falling off the trees, a receding energy. The character PO 魄 contains bai 白, the color white, which evokes the hair getting white and the first frost. It is a deep concentration and allows awareness expansion and the power to accomplish actions.

Using the generative cycle of the five phases, we explore the multilayer interplay between the Earth and Metal dynamic agents as bodymind embodiment.
